About the course
The MSc Leadership & Change Management has been designed to equip the next generation of leaders with skills in management, strategic planning, project design, implementation and monitoring, together with interpersonal communications expertise.

The course has been developed after extensive consultation with government officials and industry leaders in a number of African countries. It is currently delivered to professionals in Malawi and Swaziland. Teaching & Assessment
MSc Leadership & Change Management is a full-time course however teaching is delivered over weekends, meaning that you can continue your career development whilst also gaining a management qualification.
You will receive web-based teaching materials for self-study, followed by 2-3 days of intensive tuition sessions ‘in country’ conducted by Leeds Metropolitan and partner organisation staff.
A typical pattern is three and a half weeks of directed study and a three day intensive tuition period at the end of each calendar month. This will be supported by pre-reading sent out with the directed study material and an assessed assignment for hand-in three weeks after delivery of each module.
Typically each block will consist of a mix of lectures, tutorials, group and individual activities, workshops and case study analysis. Simulations and presentations will help develop skills of group working, problem solving and communicating. This will allow a mixture of concentrated group work and workshops and more individual student-centred activity.
Assessments will include a mixture of work based assignments and examinations, which relate strategy, leadership and change theory to your organisations.
The work based project will be a major piece of work that will require you to demonstrate research, self-management and data management skills and also to show that you possess the inter-personal skills necessary to obtain the co-operation of others and to manage the process.
Entry requirements
Applicants will need a first degree or equivalent professional qualification, IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 550 and normally three years’ experience in a management position. Students will typically be senior managers in industry and commerce, government organisations and not for profit and multi/bi lateral aid agencies and donors who are qualified at graduate level, preferably from a management discipline.
The course is primarily aimed at experienced strategic leaders, however, due to the programme design and support structures graduates from other disciplines with limited strategic experienced but experience at senior manager level can be accepted on the course.
