Robbie_optIt seems Julius is onto us

While addressing young people at a Human Rights Day rally in Mafikeng, ANC Youth League President Julius Malema criticised what he called “white boer” journalists and claimed they had a vendetta against him.

Damn, how did he uncover our hidden plot? Then again, perhaps I should be grateful that we got off so lightly. Some others did not.

Jules also told the crowd that whites know nothing about the struggle for freedom. It seems a shame that no one told this to Joe Slovo, George Bizos and Helen Suzman, among others; over the years, they could have spent much more time playing bridge at the country club.

Mighty Malema further told the crowd that the Sharpeville uprising of 1960 – that later became a massacre when police opened fire and killed 69 people protesting the pass laws – was organised by the ANC, but hijacked by the Pan Africanist Congress (PAC). And there we had been thinking for the last 50 years that this was organised by Robert Sobukwe, the leader of the PAC. He was imprisoned following that day and, if Jules is correct, then Sobukwe has robbed the history books and spent all those years in solitary confinement in vain.

Nothing seems to pass Jules. If it were not for him, we would all think Helen Zille was a productive head of the opposition party and best mayor in the world in 2009. Meanwhile, she is simply a racist little girl with a suffering for Satanism, who likes to sleep with her Cabinet members! How dare she try to pull the wool over our eyes?

The same goes for former Gauteng premier and a senior Cope leader, Mbhazima Shilowa, whom Jules exposed as “an irresponsible father and security guard”.

The list goes on and on: From his insights into why rape does not count if you get taxi fare, to his ingenious comments on why Kader Asmal must die and why “Kill the boer, kill the farmer” could be sung happily by him at his birthday celebration last month.

There is honestly so much hot air there that I could jump into a hot-air balloon with all the above-mentioned people and make it to the Serengeti from Cape Town.

And our president does nothing, says nothing.

So it gives me great pleasure finally to have a leader who has spoken up, who has had enough and clearly is showing what a true leader is all about.

Read our Leadership exclusive on page 18 by the chairperson of Nedbank Dr Reuel Khoza, when he addressed our Tomorrow’s Leaders Convention in March in Sandton.

Read it and weep, Jules, because as things turn out in the end, the joke is on you. You are not onto us, we are now onto you – and it is no longer only the “white boer” journalists.
