To celebrate International Women’s Day, South African Institute of Management launched SAIM Women. Chief Operating Officer at SAIM, Varaidzo Mhangami says we are working to make sure that women are heard in the workplace.

What is SAIM Women?

SAIM Women is a network that endeavours to encourage, motivate and support women in their professions and provide organisations with a practical framework in order that they may benefit from being a gender-diverse organisation.

This network aims to address the specific issues affecting women managers today and to further develop their potential.

As a female professional, manager or entrepreneur even female students aspiring to be managers one day, this is an opportunity to review and discuss pertinent issues that affect woman managers, network with other like-minded women and develop peer mentoring.

Why join SAIM Women?

As a professional woman, you will not rise unaccompanied. Be a part of something bigger through mentoring. Share your skills and knowledge and expertise or provide practical support to managers and leaders through this wonderful platform.

What are the benefits of SAIM Women?

Whether you are aspiring to find that first rung on the management ladder or you are an experienced veteran, our development and networking centre has a wealth of tools and information to back you through this progression.

What are some of the things women can expect?

Women will meet like-minded people, develop new contacts and develop new skills online and through networking sessions.

Exchange ideas, good practice and practical advice to maximise the potential of you and your organisation.

The theme of this year's International Women's Day is #PressforProgress. The day brings global governments, women's organisations, businesses and charities together under the banner of International Women's Day. We encourage female professionals to join. It is a wonderful opportunity to consider how to accelerate the 2030 Agenda, building momentum for the effective implementation of the sustainable development goals.
