Next generation auto-mobility

In the early 1980’s Sigma Motor Corporation, which was part of Anglo American manufactured and marketed Mazda, Mitsubishi Colt and Peugeot passenger cars in SA. The Mazda 323, one of the first hatchback cars to be sold in South Africa was the top selling vehicle in the country selling over 4 000 units in one month.

This was the days of the fuel crisis, when the national speed limit was 90km/hr-and the motoring public stuck to it. The Mazda of those days was a very different car to the modern Mazda CX3 which is now imported and marketed by Mazda. No air-conditioning, no power windows or air-conditioning. Just a basic excellent product which sales figures showing the popularity of the car.

The latest Mazda CX3 SUV is extremely refined and caters for even the most discerning motorist. Based on the Mazda 3 the CX3 comes with ample space and a large rear load area. Ideally suited as a family tourer over the weekend and annual holidays, or as mom’s taxi during the week. Space style, comfort and power are the hall marks of this exceptional vehicle.

Looks aside the Mazda CX3 comes with all the sophistication of much more expensive options.

The CX3 is fitted with the SKYACTIVE petrol engine mated to a 6 speed Automatic gearbox. More than adequate power of 115kw and 206 Nm of torque ensure there is more than enough power in town or on the open road. Standard cruise control helps the driver on long open road trips to keep to the speed limit.

The modern cockpit is full of features to ensure absolute driving pleasure for the driver and passengers.

The Smart keyless push button engine start sets the scene for the rest of the journey. All audio controls are on the steering wheel as are all of the multi-function controls which keeps the driver up to date with information such as current speed, average speed a fuel economy.

A Paddle shift is also incorporated to control the gears manually if required. The Bose radio is fitted with CD/Aux as well as USB ports and Bluetooth and features a 7 speaker sound system A 7 inch display screen fitted to the centre of the console also holds a host of features including an integrated navigation system. An electronic park brake is also standard.

Other features include rain sensing windscreen wipers, rear park sensors with a camera and auto dimming rear view mirror. A HUD (heads up display) keeps the driver’s eyes on the road and helps check the speed easily.

This model also has auto folding mirrors, adaptive headlights as well as blind spot monitoring. Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Smart City Brake Support (SCBS) and Driver Attention Alert (DAA) is also featured.

The CX3 range comes with a 3 year unlimited kilometre service plan as well as a 3-year factory warranty and roadside assistance plan. A 5-year corrosion warranty is also included.

All in all a very well designed and speced vehicle that will provide many years of pleasure and service to the owner.
