Anticipation is growing among the thousands of teenagers and young adults who will be attending the free Inspired Youth workshops being staged during the Gauteng Provincial Government’s Youth Careers, Jobs and Entrepreneurship Expo at the National Exhibition Centre (Nasrec) in Johannesburg on 10 and 17 June.

Pride Factor, founders of the Inspired Youth platform designed to motivate and guide the future leaders of South Africa, have assembled a stellar programme featuring a dozen of the country’s top role models in entertainment, sports, philanthropy and business who will share personal insights on how they have achieved their dreams.

The workshop this Saturday (10 June) will feature comedian and TV presenter Nina Hastie from Trending SA, motivational speaker and differently enabled entrepreneur Sandile Mkhize, photographer and YouTuber Sibu Mpanza, pop sensation Alexandra May. Sophie Kanza from the Trace Foundation for Youth Success will be speaking at the event also bringing a surprise celebrity performer to close out the show on a high note.

The lineup for next Saturday (17 June) includes triple PRISM award winner Mike Sharman who created the Nandos and Rocomamas campaigns, SA and African Boxing Union (ABU) Champion Tulz Mbenge, acclaimed motivational speaker Romy Heldsinger, former Miss SA finalist, philanthropist and businesswoman Candice Robbertse and global entertainment super-star Danny K.

The workshops are hosted by Pride Factor MD, Dene Botha, who will introduce and interview the speakers, conduct audience participation tasks and performances and encourage the audience to challenge their assumptions and broaden their aspirations.

Those who take part in the interactive tasks are rewarded with valuable prizes including Acer computers and Epson printers from Tarsus, behavioural assessments from PDA (valued at R20,000 each), apparel from Brand Collective and many more give-aways.

Exhibitors at the events enable attendees to consult with experts on life skills and guidance from the Growth Institute and about banking services from ABSA.

Participants come largely from 380 Gauteng high schools who are bussed to and from the venue and given lunch by the Gauteng Provincial Dept. of Education. Entrance is free and registration starts at 8am. The workshops commence at 9am and run until 1pm with everyone receiving healthy, flavourful refreshments courtesy of Vita Coco.

The 2017 Gauteng Provincial Government Youth Careers, Jobs and Entrepreneurship Expo runs from 9-18 June and features hundreds of exhibitors showcasing information from different industries and academic institutions, fashion shows, entertainment, MEC dialogues and a march to commemorate Youth Day on 16 June.

Attendance at the Expo is expected to exceed 10 000 people each day.

The media partner for the Inspired Youth workshops is Trace TV and the official beneficiary for the events is Cape Town based Dare to Share who will be presenting their Game for Humanity programme.

The events are produced by Pride Factor and Liquorish Inc. and proudly supported by the Gauteng Provincial Government, the Growth Institute, PDA, JB Marks Education Trust Fund, ABSA Bank, Tarsus and Vita Coco.
