Briony Chisholm has been an information pharmacist at the Medicines Information Centre and National HIV & TB Hotline, based at UCT, for 19 years and, as such, has written a range of pieces from those aimed at lay people through to published medical papers. She recently metamorphosed that role into it being part-time and is exploring the adventurous realm of travel writing.

Emily Gray

Gray was diagnosed with an osteosarcoma at 11 years old, which resulted in her having her left leg amputated through the hip. She then went on to represent South Africa at three Paralympic Games, and now helps amputees and cancer patients reintegrate back into society by looking at their physical and mental wellbeing.

Dr Dlamini has now stepped into the role of author.

Xanthea Limberg

Limberg has been serving on the City Council for the past five years. In January 2017, she was appointed to the Mayoral Committee overseeing the Informal Settlements, Water and Waste Services, and Energy Portfolio. In addition to this, she serves on a range of other committees and specialised task teams to enhance service delivery for Cape Town’s population of over 3.7-million residents.

Kim van Kets

Van Kets grew up in the rural areas of the Eastern Cape, studied law at Stellenbosch University, was admitted as an attorney of the High Court of RSA and spent many years in legal practice and the corporate world. But she is best known for her “Tri the Beloved Country” expedition, which involved a self-powered 6 772km circumnavigation of South Africa on foot, bike and kayak in 148 days.

Whitear-Nel (BA LLB) is a Senior Lecturer at the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s School of Law. She has written four books and is also qualified as a Commissioner of the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration. She is also presently a consultant at Austen Smith Attorneys
