Douglas Ramaphosa appointed to Curro Holdings Board


JSE-listed independent school operator, Curro Holdings, is pleased to announce the appointment of Douglas Ramaphosa to its Board of Directors. The appointment is effective 26 January 2018, with Ramaphosa set to attend Curro Holdings’ first board meeting of the year on 16 February 2018 as an independent non-executive Director.

Ramaphosa offers a wealth of experience, having served on the boards of numerous companies, as well as holding various senior executive positions in the private sector. 

Chairperson of Curro Holdings, Santie Botha says of the appointment, “Douglas Ramaphosa brings a wealth of business experience to Curro and I believe his contribution will not only benefit the future prospects of the company, but will also filter through to our many educators and learners in our schools.” 

Currently Ramaphosa is a non-executive Director of EnviroServ, a waste management company, as well as of the Wildlife and Environment Society of South Africa (WESSA). He is also the Chairman and Director of Satori Tech Hub. 

Previously, Ramaphosa served as Group Executive of Corporate Affairs at Altron until the end of June 2017. He held the position of CEO of Bytes Healthcare Solutions until August 2014, and prior to that role, he was Managing Director of Bytes Specialised Solutions. Ramaphosa has more than 25 years of business experience through various Director and Board memberships.

Furthermore, Ramaphosa worked at senior executive level for a number of large organisations, including Transnet, ABSA and Anglo American. He served on the board of Eskom Enterprises for five years and was Director and Chairman of Rotek Industries. 

Ramaphosa holds a Master of Arts degree in Social Sciences, obtained from the Rostov State University, and he completed the Programme for Executive Development at the Institute of Management Development, in Lausanne, Switzerland.
